28" - Ribbons Wallart
Description: “Ribbons” is original abstract art by Billie Colley. This wall-art represents an excellent example of Billie’s abstract painting technique. This particular painting is made out of many layers, building over time with paint and epoxy. The curing takes about six months. During layering, she has been discovering a new method or material to include in her work. As an avid mosaic artist, Billie loves including a found object in her paintings and installations. Thus adds richness to the colors and depth to her art.
Size: 28″ Diameter
Material: Mix Media on wood
Artist: Billie Colley
About Billie Colley: Billie was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. She furthered her education—mostly in architecture—in London, England, where she lived for ten years. Billie worked for Colefax&Fowler a prominent interior design company in London. It was while there that she learned how color influences every facet of our lives. For the last 20-plus years, Billie has resided in North Carolina.
The color explosion is an abstract representation of Billie’s vision. She is an outstanding exponent of understanding the relationship between fine and decorative arts; that connection defines her style as a contemporary artist. And the correlation between left and right brains (architect and artist) is represented in her art.
Billie’s inspiration comes from her international background. She will tell you that her work has been shaped significantly by the various countries in which she has lived:
- Mediterranean Turkey, with its stunning variety of turquoise hues.
- The often dark and volatile grays of the unpredictable English weather.
- The mountains and streams of North Carolina alternately bake under the unremitting summer sun and sparkle under the white frosts of winter.
